What tools do I need to cut the shape for the swing bar door guard?

I would like to invest the swing bar door guard in my front door but the door rim is too thick and I have to cut the pattern for the door guard. What are the best tools for cutting/making the shape on the door rim?

If you bad that you have to do a cut-out, draw it out first and use a regular metal saw to cut the 2 sides. Use an exacto knife to dig a pen-mark joining the first 2 cuts. By folding the cut-out part repeatedly back and forth it will be stricken off neatly.
